When should I have everything ready for my baby?

Posted by admin
Isadora Marie’s Mommy asked:

I am currenttly 32 weeks and have most everything for our little girl except saftey/hygeine products and was wondering when I should be finished shopping and ready for her to come into this world. Also when is a good time to start packing my hospital bag? So far my pregnancy has had no complications, but she is measuring a week or two bigger each appointment. Thanks everyone.

I’d get the hospital bag ready in a few weeks time, because you can then put it away and know that you’re all set. If she comes really early, then you can get someone to make calls and have other people do the other shopping for you! Otherwise, you can wait until around 37 weeks.

Well, it’s “normal” to deliver anywhere between 38-42 weeks. If you are concerned, go ahead and start getting a few things at a time each time you go out. As for your hospital bag, pack it. What could it hurt? Congrats and good luck!

getting everything now is not abad idea, because you want to make sure you have everything in hand…and packing is a great time to do it now because you’ll never know when your rushed out…

I’m 37 1/2 weeks. I just packed my hopsital bag last night. I have a healthy pregnancy and my baby is measuring a week and a half ahead of schedule too, but I don’t really think that matters for when he will arrive. If I were you, around 37 weeks is a good time to pack your bag.

That was my due date for my son at this time last year at the time!!

By this time I had his room ready except his changing able still needed to be put together. Have your hospital bag open so ou can slowly start to gather things and definitly have it ready by mid april. Saftly things wont be nessacry until around halloween. get the hygene things, (shampoo, bab qtips, powder, etc) when you get anything else you will need for your hos. bag. by its fine if you dont end up getting anythings else beside wipes until she is home. she wont be bathed for the first week anyways…..

B.T.W my son was induced on may 1st and born on may 2nd and i had the majority of what i needed for him b/c i also have a 3 year old daughter and i had her things saved in case of anouther baby…..

I think this is a matter of what you want to do. I know I feel better knowing that I am ready if the baby decides to come early. I enjoy the shopping for baby things and getting it all ready. I have had a bag ready for awhile now, but just recently put everything that I want to take with me in the dining room near the front door. I am 38 weeks, having lots of braxton hicks and dilating.

I’d say have most everything set up by 34 weeks once you get further then that your not really going to want to do as much. Finish things up by 37 weeks.

I have had my bag packed for around about 6 weeks now and bought everything 2 months ago because I had my 2nd child at 32 weeks and I wanted to be prepared. I say go out and get the rest of what you need because the baby could come at any minute. I had nothing wrong with my body or anything and my baby came very early so yours could too but if you can’t get everything ready now maybe getting it done within the next few weeks would be a good option. we haven’t got long to go now I have an extra day then you though.
